Dr. John Petro became inspired by Chiropractic through his own experiences.  He grew up playing football and suffered from multiple back and abdominal injuries, known as “stingers". He went to his local Chiropractor and, within 1-2 visits, the pain was gone. Dr. Petro was astonished that he could get relief so quickly from someone using only their hands as tools. He knew right away that if he could help others heal naturally, then this was the profession for him.

Dr. Petro is passionate about finding the root cause of problems. He prides himself in teaching his patients what is happening within their bodies.  Dr. Petro takes the time needed to explain tests, results, and/or imaging related to their condition. He ensures that his patients cultivate awareness and participate actively in their healing.  He encourage patients to pay attention to what works and what doesn’t work for their bodies, resulting in a doctor/patient team approach to achieving results.  He also enjoys educating patients in how to take care of themselves between appointments, preventing conditions from returning.  Dr. Petro often gives his patients “homework”. The homework ranges from stretches, exercises, nutritional recommendations, work ergonomics and more.

Dr. Petro grew up in the beautiful Adirondack Mountains in Upstate New York and attended Moriah High School, where he graduated as salutatorian of his class. After high school, he went on to study biology and played football for Alfred University. He completed his graduate studies at New York Chiropractic College in Seneca Falls, NY. After graduating from NYCC, Dr. Petro moved to Texas to work and gain experience. When he was presented with the opportunity to join Chosen Spot Chiropractic, he could not turn down the opportunity to practice Applied Kinesiology in the Finger Lakes. He greatly admired the work and reputation of Chosen Spot Chiropractic, and ever since graduating from NYCC, Dr. Petro knew that eventually he would return to the Finger Lakes and and call it “home”.

In his free time, you will find him outdoors. One of the draws of coming back to the Finger Lakes region, is how much he loves the outdoor lifestyle and activities that the region has to offer. He enjoys spending his weekends walking trails with his girlfriend and their dogs, and fishing.
